Contrail Shadow

This will be the first post on this blog. I transfered this information from my old News page. One day in August 07, I saw something interesting in the sky. I arrived at the Park and ride and was sitting on the bus when I noticed an usual dark streak or shadow in the sky. At first I thought it was a reflection on the window, but I realized it was across the sky itself. It was relatively thick and stretched from horizon to horizon, passing right by the sun. The band was very dark near the sun. If you've ever played Halo and looked up at the sky, you will see a band across the sky. It looked just like a huge shadow. I did some research when I got home and realized I witnessed a 'contrail shadow'. Here is an image I found on the internet which was very similar to what I saw.

If you ever have time, look it up. It's an interesting phenomenon and awesome to see in person if you can catch it.
